It all started way back in 1967. Shuckums was a quaint little building with loads of character when two Alabama boys with absolutely no knowledge of oysters decided to open an oyster pub. What these two boys had was a simple, but great idea: offer a good product at a reasonable price, and provide a friendly atmosphere, and the people will come....
....and come they did. People from all over the country and even the world enjoyed many an evening of great food and good times at Shuckums. People from all walks of life have sat at the famous "oyster bar" and pulled up a dozen fresh shucked Apalachicola oysters and an ice cold beer. Sometimes they even had to wait to get a seat! When the waits got too long, it was time to expand.
Improvements, renovations and additions have always been a part of Shuckums. Providing our friends with comfortable surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere has always been a staple belief of Shuckums. Renovations include the addition of the Shuckums Saloon, installation of a full liquor bar, four major overhauls, a Gift Shop and now the new Shuckums Party Shack. The Party Shack has a brand new live music stage and DJ booth. We also have added a new 85 seat covered deck on the side of the shack! The seating capacity has increased from the original 30 to nearly 450 today!
